چکیده
In this work we examine the distribution of wh-in-situ and short (i.e., clause internal) wh-doubling in Northern Italian dialects with purpose showing that are not unitary phenomena, since they subject to different distributional properties across dialects. We show cannot be reduced a single analysis but rather corresponds family phenomena which have common basic procedure feature doubling, within copying mechanism applies subsets or packages features is constrained ways. Furthermore, some types doubling correspond their wh-in-situ, shows two must related null counterpart wh-doubling. However, languages generalized, has nothing do

Towards a New Typology of Coordinated Wh-Questions
In this paper, we develop a new typology of multiple wh-questions with coordinated wh-pronouns. We motivate the existence of three distinct structures for such questions: one mono-clausal and two bi-clausal. We use four kinds of diagnostics to determine which of the three structures is available in a particular language: the availability of both multiple wh-questions and wh-questions with coord...
متن کاملThe Phonology and Syntax of Preverbal and Postverbal Subject Clitics in Northern Italian Dialects
We argue that preverbal and postverbal subject clitics in northern Italian dialects are the same lexical items. The different forms of proclitics and enclitics can be explained phonologically (i.e., by phonological constraints ranked in a particular order) and by the hypothesis that morphologically neutral vowels may be inserted in final position (what we call morphological epenthesis). The dis...
